You Are Safe
This stretch is about trying to remind yourself that you are safe. So we'll come to a comfortable seat, maybe on the floor, maybe on a chair, or if you're more comfortable standing, that's an option as well.
And we'll be taking a little stretch for the side of the body and we'll just bring a little affirmation into it to really ground into that feeling of safety. Fingertips will be resting down by your sides and we'll float one arm out to the side, up and overhead. Keep it as long as you can. And then take a lean over, so reaching up and over to the top corner of the room. Holding it here. And we'll take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. As you breathe in, thinking "I". Breathing out, "I am". Breathing in, "safe". Float yourself back up to the centre and dropping that arm down. Or go on the other side, floating the arm up, keeping it as long as you can, reaching up and over to the top corner of the room. You can plant the other hand down and we hold it here. Deep breath in, thinking "I". Breath out, "I am". Breath in, "safe". And then floating back up to the centre and dropping the hand gently down.
And you can use this stretch every time you want to feel a little calmer and a little bit safer about your surgery.
